JESUS IN THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES

Is the law on Feast of Tabernacles done away? What is the significance of this Feast in God’s plan? Is it for Christians? Is there a punishment for not keeping it? What did Jesus’ example tell us?

Today, Christians has no idea what is the Feast of Tabernacles is? People are very busy celebrating their own anniversaries or holidays they called Christian customs and tradition. But Jesus, the founder of the true way, worship of the true God has nothing to do with paganism! We should understand that God’s way is NOT the world’s way (false god-worship).

JESUS MADE FLESH

The Son of God, almost two thousand years ago, was sent by God the Father. God, is in fact his Father before he made flesh. Hebrews chapter 1, we read:

“5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows”.

Here, is a scenario that is before the Son was made flesh. The writer speaks about Christ superiority above that is called spirits in heaven. In deed, angels are fellow spirit and supporters of truth in heaven, but the Son is not part of angelic realms. In fact, the Father created all these angels THROUGH the Son.

Notice:

Colossians 1: “13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by [through]him were all things created, that are IN HEAVEN, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell”.

We could understand that the Son is “ BEFORE all things” (verse 17). If He is before all things, that means he existed before the angels or the entire creation. That history is the Father is the only person with him.

John said on John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was WITH God [the Father], and the Word was God”.

So, Jesus is not of the angels’ kind. The Son was of the God kind!

There was an angel kind, there was a human kind, there was an animal kind, there was a bird kind…etcetera. But the Son is OF THE GOD KIND. Verse 19 says “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.”

Hebrews 1 verse 2 says : “ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

“Express image”(Charakter) means EXACT COPY or exact representation or imprint of God’s nature.

Hebrews 1:3, NIV: "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

Hebrews 1:3, ESV: "He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,"

Now, the Son became man “tabernacling in the Flesh”(John 1:14), as the Revised Berkely Version translated it.

Jesus was an infant in the Feast of Tabernacles. He was not born on Christmas Day (December). See our pdf article “ Christmas Day is not God’s Holy Day”. FREE to download.

TRUE CHRISTIANS ARE STRANGERS ON EARTH

Like Jesus our Savior, our true citizenship is not of this earth.

Ephesians 2 we read:

“13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God”.

We are citizens of the household of God in heaven. We are “clothed upon” in the future, the Eternal Life which is immortality!

2 Corinthians 5: 1 “For we know that if our earthly house of this TABERNACLE were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:”

The same is what the Bible heroes have seen a far off.

Hebrews 11: “13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were STRANGERS AND PILGRIMS ON THE EARTH.”

JESUS KEEP THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES

While on earth, Jesus faithfully keeping the signs of God which the Feast of Tabernacles is a part of. John chapter 7 is clear. Notice:

1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. 2 Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. 3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. 4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. 5 For neither did his brethren believe in him. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. 7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. 8 GO YE UP UNTO THE FEAST: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.

John 7:10 But when his brethren were gone up, THEN WENT HE ALSO UP UNTO THE FEAST, not openly, but as it were in secret.”

Peter said:

“1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ENSAMPLES to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. (1 Peter 5).

Verse 4 in New International Version, say: “not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being EXAMPLES to the flock”.

Whom you should follow? Jesus or the ministers of this world who do not give exact examples of what Jesus did?

We must follow Christ!
